Weight Function and Stress Intensity Factors of an Elliptical Crack

  • In this paper the weight function of an elliptical crack stretched to uniform load distibuted along a concentric circumference of an ellipse in an infinite elastic solid is obtained. The stress-intensity factors K1 are calculated by using the weight function. For the special case of an elliptical crack—a penny-shaped crack, the corresponding stress-int pensity factors K1 are in agreement with the reference[1], The methodresented in this paper is very simple.
