In this paper,the approximate theoretical formula of the fundamental fre- quency of the simply supported square truncated pyramid shell is derived by use of the proposition of А.Γ.HA3APOB that the impule curvature is indicated by turning angle. Moreover,on the basis of experiments of numerous models,a semiexperimental formula is also derived. The approximate theoretical(α0≤20°,b/a≥0.5)and semi-experimental formulae(α0≤30°,b/a≥0.5)are compared with the experimental data,and the errors between them are less than 5%.Therefore,these formulae may be used in engineering design.
