THE SUBMERGED SOURCE METHOD FOR CALCULATING POTENTIAL FLOW IN FINITE DEPTH WATER AND ANALYSIS OF WATER BOTTOM EFFECTS ON A SPHERE

  • In this paper, H-S method is improved by the idea of sub merged sources and the nonlifting potential flow problem of arbitrary shape bodies in finite depth water is studied by the plane mirror principle. The corresponding computer program is worked out. A sphere is taken as an example for numerical calculation. Firstly, the fundamentalidea of submerged source method is introduces and the Green functionexpression for the case of finite depth water is presented. Then some details and skills in numerical calculations are stated. Discussion on the calculation results arc also made. Finally, the advantages of the submerged source method arc summerized and the functions of water bottom effects on a sphere arc discussed.
