THE MEASUREMENT AND FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF STRESS FIELD IN LOOSE GREEN SAND UNDER STATIC COMPACTION

  • The strress distribution in green sand understatic compaction is measured and analysed by Finite Element Methad (FEM) in this paper. Satisf actary agreement is found between analytical predictions and experimental results. As the foundation of the theoretical analysis, the constitutive law of loose green sand during compaction and the friction coeficient between sand block and boundary are tested. The similar research has not been found yet, perhaps bacause of the special property of this kind of material. This paper is the first attempt to study the stress field in loose sand using general FEM softwave.
