  • Based on Gurtin variational principle, a two-step time element method for initial value problems is presented by applyingfive-order Hermitian interpolation to time domain. The formulation ofunconditional stability is also suggested. Numerical results prove that higher accuracy can be obtained by using the methods than the existing methods for dynamic responses
