THE BRITTLE FRACTURE TENDENCY OF STEEL STRUCTURES WITH HIGH STRESS CONCENTRATION

The thickness of steel elements with high stress concentration is a very important factor for brittle fracture. Its effects depend on the complex stress state for the stress concentration area. In this paper,the change of stress-strain state in tensile steel members with different thicknesses and notch radius are investigated. Its influence on the brittle fracture is also discussed.
