A NUMERICAL STUDY ON LOAD-CARRYING MECHANISM OF PLATES SUPPORTED ON FOUR EDGES AT LARGE DEFORMATION STAGE

Using nonlinear finite element method,the large deformation responses were computed for three plates supported on four edges in different ways.According to the comparison between deflections, membrane forces and bending moments,the relations between the support conditions and large deformation behaviours were studied and the distributingcharacteristics of internal forces in the plates were obtained at the large defomation stage.In addition,the iteration schemes in the method of nonlinear finite element were discussed.
