  • The damping effect of pendulums attached to a structure on seismic response is studied in the paper. The equation of motion for the composite structure subjected to earthquake excitations is established. Many numerical analyses are conducted with reference to available seismic records and some valuable results are obtained. It is shown that the vibration damping method is simple, effective and easy to be implemented in practice.
