STEP-BY-STEP INTEGRATION METHODS FOR SOLVING DYNAMIC EQUATIONS IN EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING

  • Many numerical step-by-step integration methods are applied to analyses of dynamic problems in earthquake engineering, but a proper method is often needed for a specificproblem. In this paper, the main numerical integration methods used in earthquake engineering are introduced, their basic properties (such as stability, accuracy dissipation and overshoot) are discussed. Based on the research, some suggestions are offered for prope selection of the numerical step-by-stop integration methods.
