SIMULATION OF STEADY STATE SLAB EDGING WITH 3D RIGID-PLASTIC FEM

  • An analysis of edge rolling with 3D model is developed with the Rigid-Plastic FEM. The slab shapes and the rolling force calculated by FEM are in good agreement with the experimental ones for materials Al in ambient temperature and 2S-Al in various temperatures, and better precision is obtained. A new method in which an array of extreme thin elements is used to cope with singular point is presented, calculation program is simplified and a good result is rapidly reached.
