NEW TECHNOLOGY AND APPLICATION OF CROSS-HOLE SONIC LOGGING ON PILES

  • Statistics and PSD slope ratio methods are major methods in pile integrity testing with Cross-Hole Sonic Technology at present. They often lead to mistakes in defect determination when non-parallel access tubes or non-synchronous transmitter and receiver occurs. In order to solve the problem, some new technologies are presented in this paper to improve the testing process and result accuracy, such as relative energy calculation, waterfall diagram interpretation, tomography analysis and using two depth Encoders application with real-time display of transducer locations, etc. Based on the successful practical application, this paper tries to bring these new technologies into applicable codes and standards.
