  • In this paper, the approximate importance sampling technique is presented for structural reliability evaluation. The technique combines importance sampling method in structural reliability with approximate reanalysis techniques in structural optimization, and can greatly decrease computing time of Monte Carlo method. Example of frame structure is provided to show the method and its effectiveness.
