THREE-DIMENSIONAL FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF DEFORMATION OF THE RETAINING STRUCTURE OF DEEP FOUNDATION PIT IN SOFT-CLAY

  • In this paper, three-dimensional finite element model was set up to study the deformation of the retaining structure of deep foundation pit on the basis of Mindlin's thick plate theory that takes into account transverse shear deformation A finite element program was developed. The model can simulate rheogram of ground different patterns of supports, contact friction between plate and clay, processes of excavation. and can revise soil pressure automatically according to displacements of wall. The results show that the model can consider the space effect of deformation of retaining wall due to excavation and the time effect due to rheology of foundation. The deformation of wall at any time in everywhere can be calculated based on the developed FE program. It is shown that the model is practical and convenient for three-dimensional analysis.
