MESHLESS GALERKIN THERMO-MECHANICAL ANALYSIS OF THE BACKWARD EXTRUSION PROCESS

  • In the backward extrusion deformation process, when the deformation is getting larger, the length of the frictional boundary is getting longer, and the density of the boundary points gets smaller. The adaptive boundary points setting method is employed to treat the frictional boundary condition. At the same time, the lump heat capacity method is used to solve the numerical oscillation of the temperature field. The basic equations of the rigid-viscoplastic meshless Galerkin method are given, and the thermo-mechanical analysis of the axis-symmetric backward extrusion process is carried out. The effectiveness of the model and techniques is demonstrated by the simulation of the typical process and the comparison with the data by using rigid-viscoplastic finite element method.
