Abstract
A three-dimensional ellipsoidal DEM (Discrete Element Method) model is established for non-obstructive particle damping (NOPD). The model lays down a theoretical base for judgment of contact between ellipsoids and kinematic and dynamic analysis of the ellipsoids. The dynamic behavior of composite structures of NOPD is studied using this model. It is shown that the computational results are in very good agreement with those of experiments.
