SECOND-ORDER QUADRILATERAL PLANE ELEMENT USING AREA COORDINATES

  • The theory of quadrilateral area coordinates was presented in references 1 and 2. In this paper, combined with optimum generalized compatible conditions, two second-order elements are constructed based on quadrilateral area coordinates theory. Numerical results show that both elements pass the patch test and give accurate results, and the element named ACGQ6 is convergent, reliable, stable.
