NONLINEAR ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE STRUCTURES USING COMP-ELEMENT

  • In this paper, a COMP element for beam-columns is presented. The finite element considers the spread of plastification within the cross section and along the member length, the shifting of centroidal axis, cracks in the concrete, and P-δ effect. It is convenient to perform nonlinear analysis of composite frames using 1 element per member. Gauss quadrature and minimum residual displacement method (with iteration) are used in the analysis. Numerical results show that the proposed technique is efficient and accurate and applicable to the analysis of large- scale structures.
