NONLINEAR BENDING OF ANNULAR SANDWICH PLATES WITH VARIABLE THICKNESS

  • In this paper, the nonlinear bending theory for annular sandwich plates with variable thickness under the action of uniform pressure is presented. The plate consists of a isotropic core with variable thickness and two isotropic faces with variable thickness. The fundamental equations and boundary conditions are derived by means of calculus of variations. An asymptotic solution for the problem of large deflection bending of annular sandwich plates with hyperbolically varying thickness is obtained by the method of perturbation. The effects of geometrical and physical parameters on bending of the plate are illustrated and discussed.
