Abstract
In this paper, a new curve fitting approach to the fatigue crack growth characteristic of metals is developed, in which modified hyperbolic functions are employed. Based on the of fatigue crack growth testing data of 2024-T42 aluminum alloy, a curve fitting analysis of the fatigue crack growth characteristic is conducted and the fatigue crack growth rate and the fatigue life are given. Compared with experimental data, the results of the present curve fitting approach are shown to be accurate.
