SIMPLIFIED ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE FILLED TUBULAR COLUMNS IN THE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF NATIONAL GRAND THEATRE OF CHINA

  • In this paper, simplified analysis methods of concrete filled tubular columns are presented for the structural analysis of National Grand Theatre of China. The dimensions of National Grand Theatre of China are so large that concrete filled tubular columns should be simplified in the finite element analysis. According to the equivalent lateral stiffness criterion, a concrete filled tubular column is converted into an equivalent reinforced concrete column. Besides, the results of finite element method (FEM) are compared with those of theoretical calculations, which prove the accuracy of the simplified analysis method. By these methods, the degrees of freedom of the whole structure are reduced greatly. This makes the FEM analysis of the structure efficient and ensures the accuracy of structural analysis. Moreover, the conclusions acquired in this paper provide some advices for the analysis of similar large-sized structures.
