STUDY OF AXIAL BEARING CAPACITY OF SQUARE CONCRETE COLUMNS CONFINED WITH CARBON FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC

  • square concrete columns confined with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) under axial compression were tested. Finite element analysis was performed and a calculating model was presented to predict the ultimate strength of square Concrete Columns Confined with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic. Two new methods for calculating bearing capacity of CFRP-confined columns are put forward. The results of both methods are in good agreement with the experimental data. The results can serve as reference to engineering application.
