DISCUSSION OF LATERALLY ASEISMIC REINFORCEMENT METHODS FOR FLEXIBLE PIERS OF RAILWAY BRIDGES

  • Based on the principle of isolation and earthquake reduction,two aseismatic reinforcement methods,reinforcement by pier top isolation and reinforcement by combining vibration control of neighboring piers,are presented to deal with the relatively poor laterally aseismatic condition of flexible piers of railway bridge.The corresponding calculation models are established and the vibration equations are derived.The analysis results suggest that the two reinforcement methods can effectively reduce the seismic response and hence help reinforce flexible piers of railway bridge.
