Bond Behavior of Adhesively Bonded Bars in Concrete Under Static & Repeated Loads and Its Application

  • Adhesively bonded bars have been widely used in rehabilitation, renovation and repairs of concrete structures, due to it's easy of anchoring steel bars in concrete. Based on experimental study, the bond mechanism, behavior and load carrying capacity of adhesively bonded single & group bars under static loads have been investigated. The coefficients such as embed depth, adhesive thickness, bar's diameter, etc., which effect the static bonded behavior of adhesively bonded bars have been discussed. In order to study the ductility and seismic behavior of RC members with bonded reinforcing bars, 6 concrete beams and 6 column specimens cataloged into two groups have been designed to be tested, One group is adhesively bonded member, the other is none. The looped curves of specimens under repeated cycling loads were investigated. From the loop curves, the ultimate load carrying capacity, deflection capability and ductility of specimens were compared and analyzed. Results have been shown that concrete beams and columns with adhesively bonded bars which anchorage length more than 20D(bar's diameter), have a good deformation capability and ductility. Under repeated cycling loads, the seismic behavior of concrete members is reliable.
