THE ELASTIC-THIN-PLATE BENDING METHOD FOR PREDICTING GROUND SUBSIDENCE DUE TO UNDERGROUND MINING

  • A stratified model for the analysis of ground subsidence due to underground excavation is established based on elastic-thin-plate bending theory in the rock mass displacement fields. The theoretical formulas for both two-dimensional and three-dimensional rock mass displacements and deformations due to underground excavation are given. The theoretical formula of ground surface subsidence due to underground mining in mountainous area is deduced and applied to the analysis of the ground surface subsidence due to underground mining in Wangjiazhai coal mine,Guizhou Province.Matlab program is used to solve the governing equations and plot the figures. The example shows that the theoretical results agree well with the field measurements.
