EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF EXPLOSION WITH DIFFERENT BURIAL DEPTHS IN SOIL

  • Free-field experiments of explosion with different burial depths in soil are carried out, the macro characteristics of explosion are presented, and the coupling coefficient data are obtained. The conclusion is that the explosion is fully closed if the scaled burial depth in soil exceeds 2.0m/kg1/3. It is pointed out that much difference exists between the finding of the study and the coupling coefficient data 0.56m/kg1/3 in TM5-855-1 (Fundamentals of Protective Design for Conventional Weapons). The possible reasons are also discussed.
