NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF LIQUID-SOLID FLUIDIZED FLOW WITH FICTITIOUS DOMAIN METHOD

  • The main purpose of this study is to simulate the fluidization mechanism of solid particles in a two dimensional duct with the distributed Lagrange multipliers/fictitious domain method. The general characteristics of liquid and particles’ distribution and movement were obtained, including the velocity, pressure and vorticity, as well as the curve of the related pressure and velocity. It is also observed that the particles tend to gather to clusters, partly due to the low flow velocity in the wake induced by upper stream particles. The method was found to work well for simulating the dense fluidized multiphase flow.
