A NEW kh0-METHOD FOR CALCULATION OF SINGLY REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAM

  • A new method for calculation of singly reinforced concrete beam and some related examples are introduced. The method uses a rectangle-parable stress distribution in the compression zone. Instead of the height of equivalent rectangular stress distribution, the strain of reinforcement should be at first solved from equilibrium equations. This method is adopted in Eurocode 2. The calculation is simple and a check of the height of compression zone is not necessary. In addition, it can be used for the computation of bending-tensile or bending-compressive members. Besides coefficient for the determination of section area of steel rods, there are some other desired quantities, such as the strain of concrete and reinforcement, the height of compression zone and the ratio of internal lever arm to effective depth.
