INFLUENCE OF BENDING RIGIDITY ON NONLINEAR NATURAL FREQUENCY OF INCLINED CABLE

  • The influence of bending rigidity on the nonlinear natural frequency of inclined cable is studied. The three dimensional nonlinear dynamical equations of inclined cable are formulated by Hamiltonian principle. And the influence of bending rigidity, sagging and geometric nonlinearity on inclined cable are considered during the deduction. As a result, the influence of bending rigidity is more considerable on in-plane natural frequency of inclined cable than that on out-of-plane. When the length and initial tension of inclined cable are increased, the influence of bending rigidity to out-of-plane natural frequency is degressive and to in-plane natural frequency is campanulate. And at the same time, as the order of modal increasing, the influence of bending rigidity on the natural frequency is increased as well.
