NUMERICAL STUDY ON INTERFERENCE EFFECTS OF WIND LOADS ABOUT A CLUSTER OF TALL BUILDINGS

  • The wind induced static interference effects on four tall buildings are numerically simulated by using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technology. The flow field and the mean wind pressure coefficient of tall buildings are computed using realizable k-ε turbulence model in the boundary layer flow with terrain B, and the simulating results are compared with the data obtained from the wind-tunnel experiment, which show that numerical simulation is a feasible way to study the static interference effects of more than two tall buildings. Then the static interference effects between tall buildings are discussed. It shows that the upstream building has interferences on the windward side and crosswind side of the downstream building, and the static interference effects only work on the crosswind side of building in the case of parallel arrangement. The static interference effects will change along with the altitude of building. Especially, when the height of buildings is different, the static interference effects are complicated and three-dimensional.
