CONTACT MECHANICS MODEL FOR RISK PREDICATION OF TYPICAL LANDSLIDES

  • Contact mechanics model is used to analyze the process of landslides. The effects of material strengths on the potential failure surface are considered. The convergence of the non-linear frictional contact boundary problem is obtained by iteration.A step-by-step procedure is used to simulate the process of landslides. The energy change of the slope system at each step is calculated, considering the strain energy, kinetic energy and the friction work. The model was used to simulate a rock slope. It is demonstrated that the model is feasible for the simulation of landslide, including the onset, the sliding and the termination. It is shown that there exist three main states in slopes, namely perfectly bounded, local sliding, and global sliding.
