DETERMINATION FOR PERFORMANCE SPECTRUM OF ASEISMATIC BUILDINGS

  • The response spectrum is unable to reveal the aseismatic demands under the performance objectives. A new performance spectrum is thusly proposed. The statistical average values of maximum acceleration responses of SDOF systems subjected to earthquake ground motions are investigated. According to the performance objectives, the functional relations among aseismatic demands, structural period and elastic-plastic levels are established under three-dimensional coordinate system. The elastic and elastic-plastic performance spectrums which have significance under the different groups of earthquake records are obtained. The characteristics of performance spectrum and the laws of performance spectrum curves are studied. The fitted formula for aseismatic design are derived and tested by theoretical formula. A new analytical way using the performance spectrum is provided for multi-objective performance-based aseismatic design.
