RESEARCH ON PRACTICAL WIND-RESISTANT DESIGN METHODOLOGY OF MONOLAYER CABLE NET FOR GLASS FACADES

  • Equivalent static wind load (ESWL) on monolayer cable net for glass facades is approximately expressed with the inertial force of the first mode, based on its characteristics of wind-induced response and comparison between prevailing theories of ESWL for building structures. The explicit expression of ESWL is thusly deduced, and the corresponding dynamic coefficient for wind loads of flexible cable net is presented herein. Some important coefficients are introduced to simplify the analysis, for example, an adjustment coefficient to include the combination effects of multiple modes and nonlinear behaviour of cable net, and a transforming coefficient to take into account the difference induced by the substitution of coherence function relevant to frequency with the function irrelevant to frequency, etc. Systematic parameter analysis on these coefficients in the range of conventional practical engineering are carried out with reasonable schemes, for example, the method of orthogonal design in experiments. A practical wind-resistant design method has been proposed. Results of engineering projects with the design method agree well with those from analytical dynamic analysis.
