SHAKING TABLE TEST OF COUPLED SYSTEM OF TRANSMISSION LINES AND TOWERS

  • In this paper,a shaking table test of coupled system of transmission lines and towers is carried out to demonstrate the validity of the theoretical computational model of transmission tower systems proposed by the authors.The results show that the errors between theoretical and experimental maximum accelerations are acceptable in both in-plane and out-of-plane cases of vibration,which indicates the theoretical computational model is reasonable.The out-of-plane model is found more accurate than the in-plane one by analyzing the errors and comparing the theoretical calculation with the results of test.The effects of transmission lines on the seismic response of the transmission towers are obvious and can not be ignored.The stronger the coupling effects between lines and towers are,the greater the effects on the seismic response of the transmission towers will be.
