TEST INVESTIGATION OF THREE TYPES PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE FRAME

  • The phenomena of ‘Strong column & weak beam’, ‘strong beam & weak column’ and ‘equal strength of column & beam’ can be seen in one-story pre-stressed concrete frame, as well as the top story of multi-story pre-stressed concrete frame. Their performances are studied in this paper by the testing of four pre-stressed concrete frames subjected to vertical loads. Limit loads, deflections, ductile rate, redistribution of internal force, secondary moment and moment modification are examined in the testing. Results show that (1) Internal forces beyond yielding were redistributed in all the three types of pre-stressed concrete frames. (2) The width of cracks and deflections were smaller than code predicted; (3) All these frames had better ductile and capability of moment modification.
