STUDY ON THE RESIDUAL STRESS DISTRIBUTION OF ULTRA-HIGH–STRENGTH-STEEL WELDED SECTIONS

  • Ultra-high strength steels with nominal yield strength more than 460 MPa have begun to be applied to the construction of many steel structures, but there is short of sound research on the residual stress distributions and the buckling behavior of ultra-high-strength-steel welded section columns. Many available test results of residual stresses of abroad ultra-high-strength-steel welded sections including I shaped, box-like and cruciform sections, have been thusly reviewed, analyzed and compared. The relationship between the steel plate slenderness and the residual compressive stress of steel welded sections has been studied. And the residual stress distribution models and the calculation formulae for the welded sections of ultra-high-strength-steel members have been proposed, which makes it possible to further analyze the overall and local buckling behavior of columns composed by such steel sections.
