This paper presents a finite element method for calculating semi-rigid steel frames. The effects of connection flexibilities, original curve factors and the second order effect have been considered in the element stiffness matrixes. A program for analyzing the global stability of semi-rigid steel frames with revised Newton-Raphson process has compiled. In conclusion, the effect of original curvatures and semi-rigid connections on the global stability of steel frameworks should be taken into consideration.
