INFLUENCE OF CRACK DEPTH AND TIP CURVATURE ON THE STRESS FIELD AROUND SHARP CRACK

  • For sharp cracks, the influences of the crack depth and tip curvature on the stress field around the crack might be greater than those of crack opening angle. Based on the elastic fracture theory and the complex function theory, a caluculation model is developed. The condition problem of sharp crack is solved with the conformal mapping method. Stress distribution around the crack for different crack depth and tip curvature are obtained and analysed.
