STUDY ON THE WHEEL/RAIL CONTACT GEOMETRY RELATION OF THE TURNOUT ZONE

  • Modeled the Chinese No.12 high-speed single way moved nose rail concrete sleeper turnout, the characteristics of the wheel/rail multi-points contact geometry relationship are studied by use of the spatial outline discretion of the rails of the turnout zone. The principle and method to estimate wheel/rails two-point contact are advanced, and the positions of the wheel/rail multi-point contact in the switch area and frog area of this type turnout are located in this paper too. Moreover, the distribution of the wheel/rail forces loaded on the rails and the characteristics of positional discontinuity of the wheel/rail contact point from one rail to another one are also presented. It is shown that it is the positional skip of the contact points on the running rails that causes lateral and vertical furious impact between the wheels and rails in the turnout zone. The proposed method is very helpful to optimize the structure of the high-speed turnout, and to some degree, and the results is useful to study dynamic wheel/rail contact geometry relation of the turnout zone.
