A MODIFIED ELASTIC DAMAGE CONSTITUTIVE MODEL OF CONCRETE AND ITS APPLICATIONS

  • Elastic damage models have few model parameters, which may be calibrated easily, and have a high computational efficiency. Thusly, they are suitable for engineering application. The elastic damage constitutive model of concrete proposed by Faria and Oliver et al is modified to overcome the shortcomings of the original model for describing the stiffness restoring effect of concrete under cyclic loading, and a material model subroutine UMAT is developed taking ABAQUS as the platform. Several typical tests are numerically simulated using the modified model, and the results show that the computational efficiency of the modified model is high and the simulated results are well agreed with the test data. A conclusion is given that the modified damage model may describe the tensile behavior of concrete under cyclic loading more reasonably with high computational efficiency and good applicability, and is a reliable and applicable material model for the damage analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) structures.
