SIMULATIVE CALCULATION OF TEMPERATURE AND STRESS OF RCC DAMS WITH INHOMOGENEOUS MULTILAMINATE ELEMENT METHOD

  • In roller compacted concrete (RCC)dams, it is not easy to calculate the unsteady temperature and the relevant thermal and creep stresses precisely with FEM because the lift thickness of RCC is relatively small, and the number of the lifts is too large for the temperature and stresses to be computed with a conventional homogeneous element mesh. In light of the problem, the present paper puts forward an inhomogeneous multilaminate element method, which is based on the inhomogeneous element model and virtual laminated element model. The new method can considerably reduce the scale of calculation and improve the efficiency and even have mathematically strict treatments relating to the numerical calculation of the inhomogeneous multilaminate element. The complicated simulation problem of the temperature and stresses is satisfactorily and effectively solved.
