A STUDY ON CALCULATION MODEL OF INRUSHING FOR FOUNDATION PIT OF SEMIPERVIOUS AQUICLUDE WITH CONFINED WATER IN SOFT SOIL AREA

  • Aiming at foundation pit of semi-pervious aquiclude with confined water in soft soil area, the critical equation of inrushing seepage failure was inferred from stability condition of soil on the bottom surface of the pit, and a Finite Element model for pit inrushing based on seepage failure was established. Calculation results of case studies were compared with the results of centrifuge test, field observation, pressure balance method and inrushing model of plastic failure. The comparison shows that the results of the model are similar to the results of centrifuge test and field observation, while the results of the pressure balance method and the inrushing model of plastic failure are not consistent with the results of the test and field observation. It is suggested that the model based on seepage failure should be used to analyze anti-inrushing stability for the pit of semipervious aquiclude with confined water.
