THE INCREMENTAL VIRTUAL WORK EQUATION FOR CONCRETE SHRINKAGE AND CREEP ANALYSIS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

  • To calculate the mechanical response of flexible long-span concrete structures, nonlinear analysis considering concrete shrinkage and creep are often required. Based on the incremental equation of virtual work and the constitutive relation of the concrete shrinkage and creep, an equation is derived for the nonlinear analysis coupled with shrinkage and creep of concrete, and it is further applied to a truss structure analysis. The method to calculate the unbalanced forces is established combined with the co-rotational coordinate format nonlinear finite element method. Examples show that the method can estimate the effects of shrinkage and creep without ruining the accuracy of nonlinear analysis.
