FATIGUE ANALYSIS OF JACKET PLATFORM SUBJECTED TO SHIP’S IMPACT IN DEEPWATER PORT

  • Combining with the 300 thousand DWT crude oil terminal projects in Dalian new port, the fatigue damage of jacket platform subjected to ship’s impact is researched. The structural dynamic response due to ship’s impact is calculated using the finite element software ANSYS. The hot stress in the joints is calculated by multiplying the corresponding stress concentration factors to members nominal stress against time. Different S-N curves in the codes of API, DNV, ZC are respectively used to calculate the fatigue damage of the joints under ship’s impact. The results show that the fatigue damage caused by ship’s impact can not be neglected when the jacket platform is applied in a harbor, and if only the wave loading is considered it would result in overestimating the fatigue life of jacket structures. The fatigue damage calculated by the codes of API and ZC is almost the same, the fatigue damage calculated by the code of DNV is larger than that of two other codes.
