BEAM-TYPE SHEAR RESISTANCE MODEL FOR GROUTED BLOCK MASONRY

  • Four groups (24 specimens) of N-type block masonry with different grouted rates have been investigated on the performance of shear resistance. According to the shear-test phenomena and failure shape of specimens, the paper has established a beam-type shear resistance model with the consideration of the loaded core column concrete, and also provided related calculation formula. The shear strength of grouted block masonry was computed by the shear strength calculation formula, which was better than the formula in present code that expressed grouted masonry shear strength with the compression strength of grouted masonry. The shear strength calculation formula based on the beam-type shear resistance model can be applicable for grouted masonry with different block types.
