THE ANALYSIS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH BONDED STEEL PLATES IN COMPRESSION ZONE BY ANSYS

  • The nonlinear finite element analysis of eight concrete beams with steel-bonded reinforcement in compressed zone is performed by the finite element software ANSYS. The effects of material nonlinear constitutive relations and concrete cracking and crushing are all taken into account. A series of numerical simulation technologies are introduced, such as selecting element type, defining material models of steel and concrete, establishing global finite element model with discrete reinforced bar elements and stirrup elements, applying loads to the specimens, setting solution control options and solving. The analytical results agree well with experimental ones. The investigation shows that ANSYS finite element software may simulate the behavior of concrete beams with steel-bonded reinforcement in compressed zone under static loading through reasonably selecting parameters.
