DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF DOUBLE-SKIN STEEL RECYCLED AGGREGATE CONCRETE COMPOSITE PANELS UNDER LOW-VELOCITY IMPACT

  • Steel-concrete composite members have been widely used in engineering structures and the design methods for impact resistance have been suggested. Limited studies on the dynamic response of double skin steel-recycled aggregate concrete composite (S-RAC) panels under impact loading have been performed. The finite element models of S-RAC panels were established using ABAQUS based on the previous tests. The accuracy of numerical models was verified. The influences of steel plate ratio, impact velocity, replacement ratio of coarse recycled aggregate and other parameters on the dynamic response were analyzed. The calculation methods for estimating the mid-span deflection of members under impact loading were proposed. Results show that steel plate ratio, impact velocity, impact mass and replacement levels of coarse recycled aggregate have an obvious effect on the dynamic response of members. The use of recycled aggregate concrete weakens the impact resistance of members, and this negative effect exhibits more significant when the replacement ratio of coarse recycled aggregates exceeds 50%. The formulas suggested in this work can accurately predict the maximum mid-span deflection of members within the scope of parametric analysis.
