STUDY ON THE SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF PLANAR STEEL FRAME STRUCTURES EMBEDDED WITH VV-SPSW

  • A scaled quasi-static test and finite element analysis were conducted for three embedded vertically stiffened and vertically connected steel plate shear wall structures (VV-SPSW) with a planar steel frame structure. The seismic performance and damage accumulation of the planar structure were systematically investigated through the comparison of several mechanical performance indicators. The study shows that the structural system has the necessary lateral strength, good energy-dissipating capacity and deformation capacity under horizontal loads. It has good seismic performance. In reasonably designed planar steel frame structures with embedded VV-SPSW, the latter can be the first seismic fortification line. The damage accumulation of the integrated structure fully complies with the design ideology of multiple seismic fortification lines and the seismic design requirements of "strong frame-weak wall" and "strong column-weak beam" concepts. It is a new type of lateral force-resisting system suitable for high seismicity areas.
