CONTROL METHOD OF CABLE LENGTH ERRORS IN CABLE NETS IN GLASS CURTAIN WALLS BY USING UN-ADJUSTABLE CABLE LENGTH DESIGN

  • The cable net has been widely used in large-size glass curtain walls. It could save labors and costs to use un-adjustable cable length design in the construction of cable nets in glass curtain walls. In cable nets, the precision of the length of the whole cables and the accuracy of the segments of cables spaced by lock compressive blocks would both affect the configuration and structural performance. In this paper, the difference and relationship between the influences of these two factors are analyzed, and it indicates that both of these could transform to the length error of each cable segment. Based on this, the sensitivity analyses of cable length errors are conducted by considering these two factors together. Furthermore, the length errors of cable segments in different construction sequences are mathematically expressed by the whole cable length errors and the segment length deviation by probability theory. Finally, the control criteria of whole cable length errors and segment length deviations are proposed by using reliability theory and linear programming method. The results obtained will be used as a reference both in the design and in the construction of cable nets.
