SEISMIC PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF ISOLATED CONTINUOUS GIRDER BRIDGE CONSIDERING POUNDING

  • Under earthquake, the damping and seismic isolation technology used in a continuous rigid frame bridge will result in larger displacements and the collision between bridge panels. When the displacement is larger than joints distance, bridge panels will drop from the piers. This paper will concentrate on the collision of isolated bridges and build the finite element model of a five-span continuous beam bridge with OpenSees. Then run nonlinear dynamic analysis and conduct vulnerability analysis on the calculation results based on the cloud method. The result shows that the bridge panels of isolated bridges are easier to collide and the distance of the joints has a great influence on the collision.
