TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION OF MEGA BRACED SYSTEMS OF HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS BASED ON ICM METHOD

  • A topology optimization design method is put forward for the mega braced systems of high-rise buildings by the ICM method of the topology optimization of continuum structures. In high-rise building codes, limits on structural rigidity are specified in the form of story drifts. Considering the characteristics of structural topology optimization, an adjoining method for sensitivity analysis of displacement difference is derived, and computational efficiency is improved. The optimization model with minimizing weight objective subject to displacement constraints is established by the ICM method, which is more suitable with the form of limits on structural rigidity in high-rise building codes. The optimal topology obtained by the ICM method can meet the limits in codes. The proposed method provides a tool for automatic calculation and optimization design during the conceptual design phase, and effectively makes up for the deficiency of empirical design.
